Walk and talk therapy is simply therapy that takes place outdoors rather than in a therapy room. Walking side by side can feel less intense than sitting in a therapy room and many people find it easy to talk while moving through the natural surroundings of the countryside.
Some sessions involve a gentle walk while others may include stopping to sit and reflect. The session is shaped around what feels comfortable for you.

If we decide to work together in this way, we will agree a quiet outdoor location in County Durham that feels appropriate and comfortable.
Walk and talk therapy is not about fitness or covering a certain distance. We walk at your pace and if you would prefer to stop, sit quietly or simply take in your surroundings for awhile that is absolutely fine.
Spending time outdoors has always been important to me. I find that nature has a way of slowing us down, creating space to think, reflect and notice things we might otherwise miss. For some people this becomes an important part of the therapeutic process.

Spending time outdoors can create a natural sense of space. Many people find it easier to talk while walking, noticing that thoughts begin to settle and conversation flows more freely. There is no expectation to walk a particular distance or reach a destination. The focus remains on the therapy, with nature quietly supporting the process.
Sometimes being in nature makes it easier to meet yourself.
